Directing

The prospect of directing scared the life out of me until after I directed my first show.  I've been in love and mystified by the craft ever since. As a director I rely heavily on my training as an actor. As a lover of actors and the craft they dedicate themselves to, when I "direct" I really just take a small carving knife to the moments created in the room by the actors. I am hugely informed by their physicality, their emotion, the way they inhabit a room, sit on the furniture, or hold a coffee cup.
